Description
Delicious treats from Klaus Leuenberger’s Erner Speisewerk
The biscuit was given the shape of a tulip because the rye comes from the fields of Chalberweid above Grengiols. Every year in the second half of May, a unique wild tulip blooms in the rye fields here. The Grängjer tulip (Latin: Tulipa grengiolensis) bears the name of the village; the Grengiols Tulip Guild takes care of this unique flower. It is crucial that the fields are cultivated in the traditional way without chemicals. This provides a habitat for a species-rich field flora. In addition to tulips, other colourful flowers such as corn cockle and summer pheasant’s eye also bloom here.
